I'm obsessed with everything food related, so much so that I've devoted my professional career to it -- that's right, I'm an RD (that's a Registered Dietitian). I have a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Simmons College in Boston Massachusetts.
After graduating, I completed an eight month dietetic internship, gaining experience in counseling, acute care, and food service. I completed rotations with government agencies, a public school district, a community health center, a world renowned diabetes center, and a small community teaching hospital. I now work at Melrose Wakefield Hospital as a clinical dietitian-- a job I absolutely love.
In my spare time I've decided to combine my love for nutrition, cooking, and writing with this blog. I don't have any professional culinary training and my cooking is by no means fancy or sophisticated but I have fun and make things that taste good and are good for you. I grew up watching my mom in the kitchen and believe me when I say it, I learned from the best. And my philosophy when it comes to cooking is really quite simple... I make good food. I don't sacrifice taste or quality to create healthy recipes. It's just about using good quality ingredients, like lots of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains-- and tons of flavor!
